The roleMy client is a rapidly growing CPA firm in Mount Pleasant. They are led by their founder who is well-established in the Charleston market and in particular with their niche of high net worth clientele. This group is fun and flexible and they are looking to add an experienced senior/CPA on the doorstep to manager level. The practice is focused on high net worth individuals which has several implications for this role:You'll get the full gamut of tax experience with their client base from the simple to the very complex. On balance, it will likely slant to the more complex.Customer service is of utmost importance. It's not enough in this role to be a tax compliance genius. Besides, your co-workers have to like you too :)You'll have flexibility to get your work done largely as you see fit. Now that doesn't mean working from home immediately or coming to work in shorts and sandals. You have to demonstrate your work quality first. Even then, no shorts and sandals.The incentivesThe company offers bonuses on top of base pay for your book of business and for overtime worked during the year. The OT can be banked as extra days off or cashed out at the end of the year. There are also busy season bonuses based on productivity. You'll also have a great team around you cheering you on the way.The day-to-dayMost of this goes without saying, but you'll be doing a few things regularly:maintaining your client relationshipspreparing tax returns of all sortsreviewing other tax returnsresolving tax notices from the IRSdoing tax research as neededThe seasonsWith the firm's focus on tax compliance, there is typical seasonality involved. Summers are generally pretty easy-going and busy seasons are well, busy. There will be weekend work during that time. Have a long commute? Those days can be from home. Regardless, the workload never peaks above 60 hours offering great balance for this industry.The processYou'll start out with me, the recruiter in an interview to learn about your motivations and experience. If there's a good fit there, you'll do a short one-way video interview where you are prompted with questions and record a short response. That will then go to my client along with your resume. On the client side, you'll have an on-site where you meet the officer manager,a couple of other managers in the firm, and finally, the firm owner. At the end of that, you should be able to feel confident in whatever decision you need to make and hopefully it's pretty obvious at that point.
