SummaryAt Darkness to Light, we believe adults are responsible for protecting children. Currently, we are on a mission to train four million adults by the year 2020 to prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. To achieve this mission, we are seeking a talented Controller. The role requires a mixture of skills including accounting, finance, and operations with a high degree of attention to detail. If you are passionate about your career, enjoy working with a positive team, and want to make our world a better place - we want to talk to you!Responsibilities* Manage all aspects of accounting, billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and various special analyses;* Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and operations including a chart of accounts;* Oversee payments of all accounts; ensuring all invoices are approved are paid on time;* Monitor and process contributions and program payment receipts;* Manage lease, insurance, employee benefit programs, and loans;* Monitor liquidity, cash, and fund balances;* Maintain an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts;* Prepare monthly/annual financial reports;* Manage quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts;* Advise on financial analyses and decision-making regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, significant costs, benchmarks, and other matters with management;* Organize information and statements for annual external audit--and interface with the external auditor;* Define, benchmark, and implement operational best practices;* Monitor compliance with state licensing requirements and business license taxes;* Oversite and management of the annual filing of Form 990;* Manage the bi-weekly payroll and related employee benefit elections and the payroll system;* Additional--controller duties as needed.Qualifications* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with an emphasis in Accounting, or a related field;* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license required;* The ideal candidate has 5 to 10 years of experience as an accountant, senior accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager;* Excellent computer skills; experience in NetSuite accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite; database, or other system knowledge;* Proficiency with accounting software and experience with software system implementation;* Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost accounting principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP);* Excellent written and verbal communication skills;* Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices and standards;* Analytical ability to develop and implement improvements or recommendations;* Attention to detail;* Able to work well with senior executives and team, as well as mentor/lead other team members.
