PRIMARY FUNCTION: Chief Engineer

REPORTS TO: Hotel Manager

Summary

We are searching for an experienced and knowledgeable self-starter to join The Dewberry team as our Chief Engineer. This leader will oversee an engineering team and ensure that the Hotel's building functionality is in smooth operating condition. The Chief Engineer will work hand in hand with the Hotel Manager and Project Manager in maintaining the property to assure brand standards are met, allowing our operations team to service our guest to a 5-star level.

An ideal candidate for this position has various experience in physical operation or hotels including guestrooms, building structures, fixtures, refrigeration, heating, ventilation / HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical systems & grounds. He or she should be able to think on their feet and have a can-do attitude.

Essential Functions

Major areas of responsibilities/management include, but are not limited to:


-Conducts daily property walks to assess the safety of the property, physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment.
-Perform quality control checks on all systems and products.
-Identifying items requiring engineering, housekeeping, or other departmental actions.
-Take lead in the Hotel's Preventative Maintenance plan to ensure that the Hotel meet the Dewberry's standards for always working order.
-Ensure that all projects, routine maintenance, repairs, and replacement projects are completed within a timely manner and budgetary restraints; also, in accordance with all applicable building codes.
-Obtain cost effective proposals for maintaining or repairing all systems throughout the hotel.
-Perform guest response work orders as necessary.
-Ensure that Fire Extinguishers, Fire Alarm Pull Stations, Horn/Strobe Assemblies, Exit Signs/Emergency Lights, Smoke Detectors, and Sprinkler Systems are inspected, tested, and certified.
-Maintain and delegate work orders in our electronic system, ALICE.
-Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area at all times.
-Maintain proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools.
-Handle chemicals for designated uses/surfaces in accordance with Safety Data Sheets.
-Ensure property grounds are maintained.
-Maintain inventory by properly monitoring and recording inventory items.
-Train, coach and counsel, and conduct performance evaluations of all new and current teammates.
-Report any major issues to the Hotel Manager and recommend an outcome.
-Engage in flexible work schedules to be able to perform well during emergencies.
Qualifications:

-High School Diploma/GED Required.
-4-Years of related management experience within a hotel pr similar establishment.
-Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
-Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other systems.
-Strong knowledge of maintenance processes and methods
-Working knowledge of tools, common appliances, and machinery
-Strong problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
-Significant attention to detail.
Physical Requirement and Work Environment:

-Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
-Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
-Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
-Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
-Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping, and pulling.
-Frequent repetitive motions.
-Continuous standing and walking.
