Position reports to Shop Manager
Shop Manager sets the working hours This position is classified as
hourly CPR, First Aid, OSHA 30-Hour, LSC Basic Orientation Plus
(BOP) and Site Specific Safety Certification may be requested
Successful pre-employment background check for LMC and all military
bases is required Successful completion of a pre-employment drug
screen is required Automotive Service Excellence - ASE
Certification for brakes required Welder certification required
Class A CDL preferred TWIC card for special projects may be
required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Safety Support and comply
with company Health, Safety & Environmental Program, Drug & Alcohol

yourself as an example and practice workplace safety; use all
personal protective equipment required for the job Operate
equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the
risk of injury, property damage or loss of life Inspect shop and
worksite daily to insure a safe work place Participate in Weekly
Safety Talks to continue safety education and practices Report all
accidents and incidents to shop manager, safety manager, project
foreman/superintendent (regardless of how minor) as soon as
possible Responsible for accessible, clean & organized shop/work
site Ensure clean-up of spills and proper disposal of hydraulic
oils in designated 55-gallon environmentally safe drums Ensure fire
extinguishers are attached to all vehicles and heavy equipment and
maintained and serviced as required Budget Management Performs all
repairs in accordance with established standards of quality and
time restraints as written in "Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines"
Begins work at clock in time and regularly completes work order
forms Calls in to request work orders Enters accurate time records
into excel spreadsheet for recording work time for work orders,
repair and travel time. Closely monitors daily quantities of
completed work Schedule Management Work activities and tasks are
completed on or ahead of schedule Plans project work with project
foreman and/or superintendent Calls in to Shop Manager upon
completion of job for reassignment Quality Work performed is
mechanically and structurally sound and excels in visual appearance
Individual has mastered skills pertaining to job description
Perform quality work so re-work is never required Communication
Communicate openly with Shop Manager Communicate well with Foremen,
Superintendents, Project Managers, Equipment Manager, Safety, Human
Resources, and Administration Communicate well with part suppliers,
vendors, and other external customers Deal effectively with
conflicts with other shop personnel as well as all internal and
external customers Equipment Management Perform preventive
equipment maintenance (including greasing, checking & maintaining
oil/fluid levels, filters, etc.) Keep truck interior, exterior, and
compartments organized and clean Perform daily equipment
inspections thoroughly and accurately and document with daily
equipment inspection forms Properly secure equipment each day
(windows & doors closed and locked, equipment parked in safe and
secure location, etc.) Proper use, care, and storage of shop
inventory and small tools Immediately report equipment problems to
Shop Manager Equipment Operation Ability to operate and maneuver
heavy equipment for testing and repair: to include excavator,
rubber tire backhoe, mini-excavator, skid steer, telescoping
forklift, roller, etc. Ability to operate truck cranes Ability to
operate aerial man lifts Ability to operate welding machine and
cutting torch Equipment Operation - Ability to Operate Small
Equipment (Grinder, Impact Wrench, Portable Band Saw, Mag Drill,
Screw Gun, Circular Saw, Chop Saw, Drill, Hammer Drill, Plate Tamp,
Jumping Jack, Pressure Washer, etc.) Equipment Operation - Ability
to Use Hand Tools (Hammer, Pry Bar, Level, Shovel, Rake, Tamps,
etc.) Skills/Ability Technical Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose
equipment problems/failures Ability to troubleshoot electrical
systems and make repairs Aggressively seeks technical information &
support to do repairs Ability to read and understand technical
instructions, diagrams and specifications to do repairs Fabrication
Make various types/lengths of hydraulic hoses Fabricate and weld as
needed Repair / Abilities Repair pneumatic systems Overhaul engines
Overhaul transmissions Overhaul various differentials
Repair/replace brake systems on cars & light duty trucks
Repair/replace brakes on heavy duty trucks Repair/replace brakes on
trailers Make electrical repairs Repair air conditioning systems on
trucks & equipment Repair cooling systems on cars and trucks Repair
cooling systems on heavy equipment Repair small engines (pumps,
generators, etc.) Minor repairs such as alternators, belts, hoses,
etc. Minor body work repairs on equipment Disassemble/reassemble
equipment components to enable completion of repairs Customer

overtime work when required Qualifications and Standards Minimum
Training and Experience Minimum of 3 years of mechanic experience
or combination of education and experience is preferred. Knowledge
of principals, methods and standards of the designated trade's
area. Experience in the use and methods of tools and equipment
commonly employed with the trade. Physical Requirements Must be
physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally
and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to
lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Work involves
sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time. Must be
able to lift and/or carry weights of five to fifty pounds. Data
Conception Requires the ability to compare and or judge the readily
observable functional, structural, or compositional characteristics
(whether similar to or divergent from the obvious standards) of
data, people or things. Interpersonal Communications Requires the
ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange
information. Includes receiving assignments and instructions from
supervisors. Numerical Aptitude Requires the ability to utilize
mathematical formulas; adding and subtracting totals; multiplying
and dividing. Form/Spatial Aptitude Requires the ability to inspect
items for proper length, width and shape. Motor Coordination
Requires the ability to coordinate hands, eyes, and feet in using
various motorized equipment.
Manual Dexterity Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot
