Job Description Summary The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery
at the Medical University of South Carolina is growing rapidly and
is seeking to add a new faculty member at the Assistant Professor
level to our Adult Cardiac Surgery section. Entity Medical

Description The division is currently comprised of 15 active full
time faculty members: 9 adult cardiac surgeons, 4 general thoracic
surgeons and 2 Ph.D’s running an active research laboratory.
Additionally 2 Emeritus Professors participate in teaching
conferences and mentoring. The ideal candidate will be board
eligible/certified and have had comprehensive training and skills
in the full spectrum of adult cardiovascular surgery. Interest and
expertise in cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory
support is preferred. In addition to playing a key role in the MUSC
Heart & Vascular Center, the candidate will also actively
participate in the cardiac surgery program at the Ralph H Johnson
VA Medical Center. Successful candidates will demonstrate promise
in the tripartite mission of academic surgery: clinical care,

unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 15 lbs.,
from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Infrequent)
Ability to lower objects, up to 15 lbs., from height of 36 inches
to floor level, unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to push/pull
objects, up to 15 lbs., unassisted. (Infrequent) Ability to
maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
(Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand.
(Frequent) Ability to see and recognize objects at a distance.
(Frequent) Ability to determine distance/relationship between
objects; depth perception. (Continuous) Good peripheral vision
capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with
correction. (Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions
