FLSA:--SalariedJob Summary:--The Department of Pathology and Laboratory of Medicine is looking for someone who will be responsible for the Department with a primary focus on grant development. Individual will be responsible for proposal development of departmental multidisciplinary center, and program projects infrastructure/construction, and training grant submissions. Will also educate the research community on best practices related to grant writing and application preparation.Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 7: $49,594.00 - $70,674.00 - $91,755.00 (min - mid - max)Job Duties:--

  • 35% - Work with Principal Investigators of multidisciplinary center grants, program projects, parent grants, training/career development grants, construction nd shared instrumentation grants to develop and enhance the competitiveness of their research proposals. Provides critical strategic support for grants development (e.g. generating data and metrics, designing graphic elements, writing letters of support, updating biosketches, collecting materials, editing grant applications). - (Essential)
  • 20% - Using standard NIH criteria, collect, refine, and customize faculty biographical sketches for use in federal applications; enter and maintain biosketch versions within the Biosketch shared drive. Working with the Chair and Vice-Chair for Research, coordinates and provides support for funding consultation meetings with Principal Investigators; distributes notices about funding opportunities internally to the research community. - (Essential)
  • 20% - Coordinate and manage professional development workshops, webinars, and informational sessions that aim to: inform the departmental research community of up-to-date and relevant changes to federal guidelines; educate faculty, academic staff, post-doctoral fellows, and students on successful grantsmanship strategies. Serves as an expert in data table preparation for center grants, training grants, etc.; Maintains departmental center and training grant data; educates research teams on best practices for completing data tables. - (Essential)
  • 15% - Establish and maintain a range of customized datasets including databases and information resources for use in planning and preparing supporting materials for grant submissions. Presents to the departmental research community on funding policies and research development best practices; provides logistical oversight and coordination for research events such as seminars and informational sessions; coordinates and manages professional development workshops and webinars for faculty, academic staff, post-doctoral fellows, and students focusing on successful grantsmanship strategies; is responsible for scheduling, contacting participants, reserving event sites, preparing agendas and programs. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Develop web resources for NIH and non-NIH federal grants. Designs and updates the Research website regarding funding initatives, awards, etc. Attends MUSC Content Management System computer program training to become proficient in website maintenance. - (Essential)
  • 5% - Develop and manage processes for matching faculty and program research areas with identified announcements and RFPsProvides managerial support to Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Leadership. This includes creating materials for publication, maintaining electronic files, generating letters, scheduling meetings for the Chair and Vice-Chair. - (Essential)Preferred Experience & Additional Skills:--Exceptional organizational skills; experience with federal and non-federal research grant development, event planning, and coordination; proficiency with Mac and Windows operating systems, including MS Office Suite; Experience with website maintenance and databases is preferred.Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree and three years relevant program experience.Physical Requirements: Ability to perform job functions in an upright position.
