Click here for more information Job Description Position Summary Under the general direction of the Technical Theater Coordinator, directs the vocals and choreography of the Town Square Summer Performance Group (Leisure EEEE's). Essential Functions (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills and other characteristics. The list of tasks is illustrative only, and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class). 1. Leads and facilitates effective and efficient communication between Leisure EEEE's cast members and other related staff. 2. Arranges for, promotes and runs the auditions for cast members.-- 3. In concert with and approval of Technical Theater Coordinator, selects cast members from those participating in the audition process. 4. In concert with and approval of Community Arts Manager, creates and adapts original song and dance numbers for public performance. 5. Creates rehearsal schedule with city staff so that the needs of cast members are met and the cast is prepared for performances. 6. Rehearses cast members including blocking, polishing, choreography and vocal coaching. 7. Leads cast in show preparation/selection for each weeks performances. 8. Supervises performances as required. 9. Works with Technical Theater Coordinator to learn and train cast members in set up and operation of sound equipment. 10. Works with City Education Specialists to learn, train cast members in, and lead weekly art activity as needed. 11. Drives mobile museum to city locations and leads set up and preparation for weekly art activities. 12. Supports other division and department programs and activities as needed. 13. Perform related duties as assigned. Typical Physical/Mental Demands/ Working Conditions Physical activity: Exerts up to 50 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Repetitive motion involved with dance routines, choreography, etc. On occasion may lift weights up to 80 lbs. to approximately waist height. Risk of bodily injury is light under normal conditions. Regular exposure to the summer heat and sun. Intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior. Minimum Qualifications Qualifications Education: --High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Related experience in work force in a responsible setting, preferably one that has performance and stage presence as well as directing experience. Licensure/Certification: Possess a valid driver license. A valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and be maintained throughout employment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: -- Basic sound system knowledge -- Computer and computer programs Ability to: -- Must be able to work evening and week-ends as required. -- Set-up and operate sound support system. -- Organize and set-up various auditions, events and meeting activities -- Communicate verbally and in writing in a proficient manner -- Establish and maintain effective working relations with those contacted in scope of work, e.g., city staff, cast members, general public, etc. To Apply Submit a completed City of St. George Employment Application online at careers.sgcity.org.
