SalariedJob Summary/Purpose: The Director of Operations, Pathology
& Laboratory Medicine ICCE, reports to the Administrator of the
Pathology & Laboratory Medicine ICCE. Under limited supervision,
the Director of Operations is responsible for providing the day to
day leadership and management of a defined group of clinical and
support disciplines which includes: Transfusion Service; HLA,
Hematology; Cytogenetics; Chemistry; Laboratory Support Services;
Microbiology; Diagnostic Immunology; Histology; Cytopathology;
Autopsy Pathology; Client Services and Outreach; Ashley River Tower
OR Laboratory; Cryopreservation; Moh's Lab in Dermatology;
Molecular Pathology; Special Chemistry & Toxicology, Reference and
Send Outs; Flow Cytometry/Special Hematology; Point of Care
Testing; North Area Specialty Clinical Blood Drawing Station and
Laboratory. This role directs the delivery of services ensuring a
seamless integration with service line initiatives, performance
improvement measures, strategic, business, and organizational
goals/objectives. The Director of Operations plays a vital role in
the accreditation process and works closely with the Administrator
to assure department compliance with established standards of
performance. This position will also be responsible for the
development and implementation of processes, procedures, and
programs to increase operational efficiency and
effectiveness.Minimum Training and Education: A masters' degree in
business or hospital administration or a closely related field, and
five to seven (5-7) years' experience in hospital laboratory
administration, of which at least three (3) years were in a
management capacity required. Extensive knowledge of management and
leadership principles, budgeting methods and services related to
area of responsibility required. Demonstrates knowledge and
enforcement activities for the MUSC Hospital Compliance Program.
Demonstrates knowledge of ADA regulations and working knowledge of
CAP and CLIA certification standards.Additional Preferred
Requirements:----- -A Bachelor's degree in a related field-----
-American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certification
inClinical Laboratory Science (CLS) or Medical Technology (MT)-----
-AND a Master's degree----- -AND five - seven years leader
experience, preferably in an Academic Medicine
environmentAdditional Preferred Licensures, Registrations,
Certifications----- -CLS or MT (ASCP)----- -Preferred Lean Green or
