Job Description:


The General Manager is responsible for the successful operation of all aspects of the restaurant according to the policies, procedures and goals of the company. The success of this role relies on sustaining the long term profitability through team morale, guest satisfaction, the continuous development in the skills of the Service Professionals and managers. Reports to Director of Restaurants.

-Ability to achieve short- and long-term financial goals and objectives:
-Drive top line revenue through maximization of daily reservations, strategic promotions and special events
-Mastery of financial systems with the ability to train others and ensure accountability of key cost control measures including, COGS and daily labor
-Effective competitive pricing analysis and positioning
-Maintains the standards of Hotel Bennett and Forbes.
-Collaborative approach within all areas of the restaurant, including back of house operations
-Will be overseeing the In Room Dining outlet, as well.
-Ability to train and inspire managers and service professionals and continue to elevate performance throughout all areas of the restaurant and bar
-Expert knowledge of wine and spirits including an understanding of current trends
-Maintains ongoing coaching, mentorship and effective leadership development of team members and service professionals
-Active engagement with human resources to source and retain exceptional service professionals that embrace the service ethos of the restaurant
-Ensures consistent, inspired and seamless service engagement
-Willing to help/assist with other outlets within the hotel.


-Maintains bar, lounge, and restaurant staffing levels to provide for optimal performance commensurate to volume
-Ensures adherence to departmental and Hotel Bennett guidelines, policies and procedures
-Participates in the evaluation of food & beverage product, front-of-the-house employee performance, and development of product consistent with Gabrielle's independent market positioning
-Participates in creating the financial objectives of Gabrielle on an annual basis through the budget process and direct engagement in monthly forecasting process.
-Interacts with guests frequently to ensure satisfaction and enjoyment of dining experience
-Reviews daily payroll report, controls daily labor costs by flexing staffing levels in accordance with business volume
-Communicates daily with Chef in charge, providing current information on expected business levels and maximizing revenue potential through appropriate cover flow
-Invests in training curriculum to elevate the three pillars of business success: people, product and profit
-Evaluates individual employee performance, determines areas in need of improvement or requirements for advancement, establishes goals, objectives and training needs required to achieve same
-Coaches, counsels, retrains employees as needed to ensure accountability for superior levels of performance
-Attends all required Food and Beverage meetings to keep abreast of in-house activities and upcoming events
-Study weekly and monthly restaurant analytics with Executive Chef to identify and action upon menu item sales data
-Participate in bi-weekly F&B Marketing Meeting to present print and other media strategies to push the Gabrielle brand as an independent entity
-Support other departments as may be necessary for a successful operation of Hotel Bennett.


-Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
-3 years' experience as General Manager in a product and quality driven independent and high volume.
-Wine knowledge and wine list management experience required.
-Experience with high-end private event bookings and social gatherings preferred.
-High level of creative and functional thought process with workflow required.
-High level of work area organization required.
-Excellent command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. Payroll Programs preferred.
-Strong technical & organizational skills.


-Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10--F) and kitchens (+110--F).
-Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for a minimum of 8 hours in length. Walking and standing are required for much of the work day and possibly for 8 hours or more.
-Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space.
-Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
-Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
-Must be able to lift trays of food, food items, bags, cases weighing up to 30 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
-Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
-Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
-Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
-Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment, communicate with others, effectively deal with customers and accept constructive criticism from supervisors.
-Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions.
