JOB DESCRIPTION: The Area Production Manager has overall management responsibility for all activities & targets within the assigned process stages and areas. This includes safety, quality, environmental, housekeeping, personnel management & development, and productivity. In addition, the incumbent is responsible for consumption of energy, raw materials & other materials used. The position currently has direct management responsibility for one Deputy Area Production Manager, up to three production supervisors, and 40 production operators.RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintain compliance and ethical application of Company and Plant policies, healthand safety standards, environmental regulations, hazardous waste, and goodhousekeeping practices within audit standards.Actively promote safe work practices. Support Safety & Loss Control policies,procedures, and objectives. Ensure effective communication of, and adherence byall Production Area department personnel to affect no lost time or recordableincidents or property damage.Ensure that production volumes are achieved such that on-time delivery targets tointernal or external customers are met. Measure and monitor KPIs for performanceand determine improvement opportunities.Manage By-Products, rework and scrap produced in Production AreaLead in the development and achievement of productivity improvements and costreduction programs within Production Area to support the companys businessplans and goals.Monitor labor allocations and efficiency and recommend appropriate staffing levelsnecessary to support Production activities and Company strategies.Establish job responsibilities and objectives, track and measure performance andprovide feedback, and plan for the development of subordinates. Conductindividual performance reviews for direct and indirect reports as per companyguidelines.Evaluate process upsets, quality incidents and or emergencies in Production Areaand make recommendations and implement changes consistent with minimizingproduction loss.QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors degree in Engineering (ME or EE preferred) Proven record of accomplishment in People leadership Preferred heavy industry experience: Chemical process, steel, cement, paper or related industry, or military officer in operations/logistics/equipment maintenance field. Comparable working experience: 3-5 years heavy industrial environment as a Production Manager or Maintenance Leadership role with direct supervision Strong interpersonal skills and communication skillsability to communicate effectively up and down through the organization SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS (ADDITIONAL THAT BRINGS ADVANTAGES, BUT ARE NOT NECESSARY FOR THE ROLE): Related working experience: 3-7 years in Production and/or Maintenance management leadership positions, or experience in Continuous Improvement (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma) roles working directly with Operations teams Demonstrated experience in implementing or managing Operator Care & 5S on shop floor is a plus Professional certification: Certification in Lean or Six Sigma is desirable Skills & training (plus): SAP knowledge, Problem-solving Training, Reliability Based Maintenance Training (desired)WHY IS THIS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY: Great location!
