Job Description Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Executive Director of Communications to lead our organization's communication efforts. As the Sr. Communications leader of the organization, you will play a crucial role in shaping and executing our organization's communication strategies. Your primary responsibilities will include overseeing public relations, crisis communications, content strategy, social media management, executive communication, internal communications, reputation management, and developing automated processes to scale our operations. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. May be required to kneel, squat, or stand for extended periods to capture images. Education and Experience: - Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field with at least 15 years of progressive experience leading the communications function. Duties 20% - Public Relations: - Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance our organization's brand reputation. - Cultivate relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure coverage and positive exposure. - Craft compelling press releases, media kits, and other materials to effectively communicate our organization's key messages. - Monitor media coverage and proactively address any potential issues or crises. -Oversee the management of key enterprise publications and evaluate content, audience and distribution of publications to maximize effectiveness. 20% - Content Strategy: - Develop and execute a robust content strategy that aligns with our organizational goals and target audience. - Create engaging and informative content for various platforms, including website, blog, social media, and email newsletters. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and brand voice across all content. -Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 20% - Social Media Management: - Lead our social media efforts by developing and implementing a comprehensive social media strategy. - Create and curate engaging content for different social media platforms to increase brand visibility and engagement across the enterprise. - Monitor social media trends, respond to comments and messages, and proactively engage with our audience. - Develop a content calendar for social that elevates the brand and shares the MUSC story. 20% - Internal Communications: - Develop and execute effective enterprise internal communication strategies to ensure seamless information flow within our organization. - Create and manage internal communication channels, such as newsletters, intranet, and town hall meetings. - Collaborate with different teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with organizational goals. -Review and continually evaluate communication tools to ensure we have the most effective tools for the enterprise. -Evaluate the intranets across the enterprise and identify an enterprise solution that provides timely, accurate information for all constituents -Develop and maintain measures of success for internal and external communication strategies. -Support employee engagement efforts to increase awareness and participation. -Oversee the content calendar for enterprise messages. - Review and support internal communication campaigns that are enterprise-wide. Ensure that the message resonates with all audiences, both Health and University. - Evaluate digital signage/message boards across the enterprise and develop a comprehensive plan for evolving the platform. -Creating and maintaining a digital news center hub that highlights MUSC's brand. 10% - Reputation Management: - Proactively manage our organization's reputation by monitoring its online presence and addressing any negative feedback or reviews. - Develop and implement strategies to enhance our brand image and maintain a positive reputation. - Act as the point of contact for media inquiries and manage crisis communications effectively. - Participate in strategic planning that is consistent with the ONEMUSC vision. 10% - Process Automation: - Identify opportunities to streamline and automate communication processes to improve efficiency and scalability. - Develop and implement automated communication workflows and systems to enhance productivity. - Stay updated on the latest communication tools and technologies to drive innovation and process improvement. Additional Job Description Education and Experience: Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field with at least 15 years of progressive experience leading the communications function.
