Below. Unit Description(s): STBICU: The Trauma and Burn Intensive
Care Unit (STBICU) is the only combined critical care unit of it's
kind in the state of South Carolina. A total of 16 beds to expand
to 22 Beds within the next two years. The STBICU offers advanced
critical care services for both trauma and burn patients resulting
from catastrophic injury. Our nursing care is facilitated by
multidisciplinary teams to include but not limited to medical
staff, fellows, residents, advanced practitioners, pharmacy,
respiratory, and physical therapy to address all multi-system
variances. The care we provide is differentiated by
nurse-to-patient ratio, the need for advanced invasive monitoring,
and the use of mechanical and pharmacological life sustaining
therapies (mechanical ventilation, vasopressors, hemodynamic
monitoring, continuous dialysis). Nurse to patient ratio 1:1-2. 5W
Med Surg: University 5 West is a 16 bed adult Medical Surgical unit
with a patient population that will be comprised of a variety of
diverse medical/surgical/post-surgical patients with the
opportunity to care for highly infectious disease patients
including patients that have tested positive for COVID 19. 5SW
Medical Surgical ICU: 5SW is a 10 bed ICU located in the historic
Main Hospital. This spacious unit features large private patient
rooms with bathrooms. The patient population consists of a mixed
medical surgical intensive care population, both covid and non
covid. This team thrives on great communication and collaboration
24/7. Variety of patients here keeps the shifts fresh and new.
Working in this unit allows the RN to use a variety of both
clinical skills and critical thinking skills. Observation: The
Observation Unit is a 18 bed Medical-Surgical Unit providing close
observational care to medical and surgical adult patients. Minimum
Training and Education: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN
staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma
degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN
program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree
within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to
policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work
experience as a registered nurse required. Required Licensure,
Certifications, Registrations: Licensure as a registered nurse by
the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current
Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or
AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for
Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Physical and Mental

lb. patient that can not assist in the transfer requires 50 lbs. of
force. For every 100 additional pounds, assistance will be required
from another healthcare worker. 20 lbs. of force is needed to push
a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is
required to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability
to maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
(Continuous) Ability to see and recognize objects close at hand or
at a distance. (Continuous) Ability to match or discriminate
between colors. (Continuous) Ability to determine
distance/relationship between objects; depth perception.
(Continuous) Good peripheral vision capabilities. (Continuous)

Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor
