May vary depending on position.* IAW BUMEDINST 6230.15, health care employees who have direct contact with patients may receive appropriate immunization against communicable diseases unless a current immunization, protective titer, or medical exemption is documented.* You may be required to serve a probationary or trial period.* Some positions may have additional requirements or responsibilities.QualificationsFor GS-13, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector* Directing or leading medical records staff in various functional areas of medical records divisions;* Developing plans and program designs for medical records operations;* Adapting established medical records administration methods and procedures to solve problems or meet requirements; and* Analyzing data to assess and solve complex medical records administration problems.For GS-12, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector* Advising, educating, or training on medical records administration and related matters;* Coordinating medical records administration with other medical care services;* Gathering information on complex problems or projects in medical records administration; and* Adapting established medical records administration methods and procedures to solve problems or meet requirements.For GS-11, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector* Coordinating between multiple functional areas of medical records departments;* Addressing a variety of technical and administrative problems in medical records administration; and* Providing quality assurance reviews or recommendations to ensure medical records program compliance with applicable requirements and regulations.For GS-10, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-08 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector* Solving routine technical and administrative problems in medical records administration;* Evaluating medical records administration processes and operations per regulatory and accrediting agency requirements; and* Utilizing automated medical records systems in compliance with the Privacy and Freedom of Information Acts.For GS-09, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector* Analyzing medical records in accordance with recognized reference standards and medical and legal requirements;* Identifying key medical records administration processes per regulatory and accrediting agency requirements; and* Utilizing automated medical records systems in compliance with the Privacy and Freedom of Information Acts.Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website:https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/0600/medical-records-administration-series-0669/EducationMINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: There is no minimum education requirement for this position.SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position: For GS-11, a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a related field.OR3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field.ORLL.M. in a related field.For GS-09, a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a related field.OR2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field.ORLL.B. or J.D. in a related field.COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable (i.e. where education can be substituted for experience). The percentage of experience plus the percentage of education must equal at least 100 percent to qualify an applicant for that grade level.EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTATION REQUIRED: If there is a minimum education requirement or you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an appropriate course listing from your school (i.e. course title, semester/quarter hours, grade earned, degree earned) along with your resume.
