Sodexo is seeking a Full-Time Outpatient Bariatric Program Dietitian to join their team at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). The bariatric program dietitian works closely with the departmental and interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition care of patients with the chronic disease of obesity preparing for and following bariatric surgical procedures; providing care that is integrated and compatible with patient-centered medical goals and objectives.
The Dietitian will report to the Outpatient Clinical Nutrition Manager and will:
Have at least 3 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian;

  • Have at least 3 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian;
  • Outpatient experience required and weight management experience preferred.
  • Provide intensive behavioral counseling using evidence-based practice to high-risk patients in a high-volume GI Surgery clinic (primarily adults but will also work with adolescent patients post-operatively).
  • Identify laboratory values for nutritional deficiencies and replete using protocols.
  • Work closely with a strong interdisciplinary team including other bariatric dietitians, advanced practice providers, adult and adolescent bariatric surgeons, behavioral health providers, program director, nurse coordinator, and ancillary staff.
  • Utilize innovative ways to engage patients via electronic newsletters, patient buddy lists, website, podcasts, blogs, recorded cooking demonstration videos, and social media
  • Teach group nutrition classes to pre- and post-operative patients and develop nutrition curriculum for pre-operative patients.
  • Facilitate monthly support groups, guest speakers, topics and special events
  • Manage time effectively and hold strong organizational skills.
  • Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns.
  • Maintain involvement with QI/research initiatives and bariatric-specific organizations, such as ASMBS, Weight Management DPG, etc.
  • Communicate effectively and interact with a wide variety of professional individuals and groups.
  • Manage time effectively and hold strong organizational skills.Serve as a preceptor for dietetic interns.

        • Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments. .
          Qualifications & Requirements:Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's DegreeBasic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
