Assistant Director of Clinical Excellence - ADON - RN
In the role of Assistant Director of Clinical Excellence at Bishop Gadsden (James Island, SC) you will provide management of nursing and personal care services in our skilled nursing and rehab neighborhood. This position is responsible for creating a collaborative and efficient workplace with attention to quality standards and policies, along with regulatory compliance. This includes responsibility for setting and maintaining resident care standards and providing supervision and management for the nursing care team under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Excellence.--The successful candidate will be a licensed RN with a passion for leading our team in providing the highest level of quality care. --
Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead all nursing operations under the supervision of the Director of Clinical Excellence in Post-Acute Rehabilitation and Skilled care areas
  • Assist in development, implementation, and evaluation of policies and procedures for nursing and personal care of residents to continue advancing the care for all residents
  • Understand all federal, state, and local regulations and assume responsibility for nursing care compliance with all entities
  • Direct, coordinate, and evaluate individually and through managers all resident care
  • Ensure that nursing interventions meet the person, physical, and cognitive needs of each resident as well as maximize that individual's self-care capacities, identity, independence, choice, and opportunity for social interaction
  • Conduct Daily resident rounds with team leaders and initiate corrective action when necessary
  • Report health status changes, transfers, incidents, or other problems to Director of Clinical Excellence, Director of Health Services, and other pertinent health service or administrative staff
  • Assess as indicated resident care needs and oversee the development of individualized plans of care
  • Attend as indicated resident, care plans, care conferences, and 72-hour meetings on a regular basis.-- Ensure inclusion of family members, nursing team, and other disciplines
  • Supervise the safe administration of medications and treatments ensuring accurate procedures are followed utilizing Quality Assurance documentation and Medication Error Reporting
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the nursing care services budget.-- Understanding equipment needs and ensure they are available and in appropriate working order
  • Work with Clinical Managers to ensure that documentation of nursing care and adequate medical records are maintained for each resident
  • Review and assess records of residents and prospective residents to make recommendations regarding appropriate level of care
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary team new resident transfers and admissions, attend 72-hour meetings, and help resident and families assimilate in the community
  • Attend Resident status meetings offering insight and recommendations for Resident needs
  • Review Physician orders monthly and as needed, ensuring that medication/treatment records are complete and accurate
  • Ensure prescriptions are filled and appropriate quantities of medications are on hand
  • Train and develop new leaders to ensure the ongoing excellence in Clinical care
  • Assist in managing and developing Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) for QAPI to ensure optimal care is being provided and documented
  • Direct, supervise, implement, and evaluate training and education for nursing staff to ensure optimal care is provide with a focus on individuals self-care capacities, identity, independence, choice, and opportunity for social interaction
  • Coordinate with Director of Clinical Excellence staff meetings as needed (minimally Monthly) with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating, and implementing nursing policies and procedures
  • Ensure department representation at Safety Committee and safe operations/patient handling throughout the nursing department
  • Participate in Quality Improvement (including presentations as directed by the Director of Clinical Excellence), monitoring Quality Indicators with MDS Coordinators and ensure implementation of best practice
  • Interview, hire, coach/discipline, and terminate staff while coordinating with Clinical Managers as required to ensure adequate nursing personnel to meet resident's care needs
  • Coordinate with Clinical Managers to prepare written performance evaluations and initiate recommendations for salary increases, promotions, and terminations
  • Coordinate with Clinical Managers to direct and supervise scheduling of all nursing personnel, assuring appropriate staffing is maintained to comply and the needs of the residents
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation among the team and with other interdisciplinary/operational departments
  • Develop/implement and understanding of Systematic Processes to ensure optimal outcomes for residents
  • Assume/Monitor/Schedule ON CALL responsibilities during evenings, weekends, and holidays being available for team members when needed.-- This is shared alongside the Director of Clinical Excellence
    Qualifications
    • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
    • Must demonstrate professionalism, required assessment abilities, and clinical skills
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written
    • Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material
    • Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees
    • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, reach, squat, climb, reach above head, carry, and lift (up to 50 lbs.)
      Required Education and Experience
      • Registered Nurse licensed by the state of South Carolina and in good standing with the Board of Nursing
      • Maintain current CPR and ensure certification is provided to Clinical Educator when renewed or requested.
      • At least two to three years of long-term care experience and/or received orientation through Bishop Gadsden, with the desire and ability to supervise multiple levels of care.
      • ADN accepted, but BSN preferred or willingness to advance educational degree
      • Supervisory ability and experience with staffing and scheduling
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ability to work with other computer programs as needed
