Registered Nurse (RN) | Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Location: Charleston, SC Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $1,845 per week Shift Information: 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 1/26/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified PICU RN in Charleston, South Carolina, 29425! Job Title: PICU RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3x12 hours, Rotating Hours per Shift: Day (07:00 - 19:30), Night (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum 2 years of PICU experience preferred License: Active RN license in South Carolina or Multi State/Compact license Certifications: BLS, PALS (must be from American Heart Association) Must-Have: Easily adaptable to a block schedule, with manager approval. Ability to float within the facility's needs. Description: The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is a 28-bed unit providing intensive and intermediate care to children ages 0-18. This unit cares for patients with a variety of medical and surgical diagnoses. Common diagnoses include respiratory compromise, trauma, post-operative surgical patients requiring immediate intensive care support, and neurology/neurosurgery. In addition to ventilatory and cardiac support, the unit provides ECMO, CRRT, renal or peritoneal dialysis, and additional complex supportive therapies. Pediatric Palliative care is available as needed. The unit is staffed by Registered Nurses, Patient Care Technicians, and Unit Secretaries, along with therapeutic supportive services such as Respiratory Therapy and Pediatric Dietitians. Key responsibilities include: Caring for patients with varying needs and supporting advanced medical procedures. Maintaining a high standard of patient care in a dynamic environment. Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings to ensure optimal outcomes. Accepting first-time travel assignments. Preferred experience includes ECMO and CRRT management. Weekly expectations include 4 weekend shifts for days and up to 5 weekend shifts for nights, rotating through a mixed unit with varying ratios based on patient acuity. All requests for time off must be submitted at the time of application. Travelers should be aware that assignments during hurricane season may involve emergency response duties. The unit sees a daily average of 23 patients, with a mix of ICU and step-down cases. Specific skills required include monitoring ventilated patients, administering medications, and managing complex care equipment. Candidates must be willing to handle varying patient ratios and adapt to the needs of the unit. Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. RTO must be submitted upon application, and shifts may be called off as needed based on facility requirements. This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a commitment to high-quality patient care.
