Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: CVPICU - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, days - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU position requiring a SC or compact RN license and strong pediatric cardiac ICU experience. Responsibilities - Position is in a 29-bed Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVPICU) at a Level I Trauma, Magnet teaching hospital - Unit cares for pediatric patients of all ages with a focus on cardiac surgery, congenital heart defects, VADs, heart transplants, and complex medical cases - Average daily census is 26 with patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2 based on acuity - Unit performs cardiac surgeries, VAD placement, heart transplantation, cardiac catheterization, ECMO, CRRT, and provides advanced cardiac and ventilatory support - All beds are monitored and utilize advanced supportive therapies - Collaborative team includes RNs, PCTs, unit secretaries, and ancillary staff such as respiratory therapy, pediatric dietitians, and pharmacists - Works 3x12 hour rotating shifts (days and nights: 7a-7:30p & 7p-7:30a), with at least 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule and holiday rotation - Epic EMR is used; prior Epic experience is preferred - Floating within scope may be required - Care for critically ill pediatric cardiac patients, including post-surgical and advanced cardiac support cases - Unit holds a Gold Beacon Award and is nationally recognized for patient outcomes - Block scheduling may be considered at manager discretion - Locals accepted (must live beyond 60 miles to qualify for travel rates) - All required time off must be provided at submission for approval - Pre-employment modules (approximately 4 hours) to be completed before start - Scrub requirements to be confirmed upon assignment - Possible inclusion in emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November) Requirements - Active SC or multi-state compact RN license required upon start - Minimum two years of recent pediatric cardiac ICU nursing experience required - CV and pediatric critical care experience required - VAD experience highly preferred - Certifications required: PALS and BLS (AHA only); ACLS (AHA) preferred - Must submit Social Security Number and Driver’s License for consideration - Acceptance of first-time travelers - Epic EMR experience preferred - Previous permanent or PRN staff must have a one-year separation before eligibility Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-664478.
