internationalsos.com Job Description This position is contingent
upon award of contract Assess, monitor, and manage patients
receiving chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy, including evaluation
of physiological, psychological, emotional, and age-specific needs.
Administer antineoplastic and immunotherapy treatments in
accordance with provider orders, Veterans Affairs policies, and
Oncology Nursing Society guidelines. Monitor patients for infusion
reactions, adverse events, and changes in condition; initiate
appropriate emergency interventions and promptly notify providers.
Access, manage, and maintain venous access devices including
peripheral intravenous lines, peripherally inserted central
catheters, implanted ports (Port-A-Cath), and other vascular access
devices. Perform venipuncture, blood transfusions, administration
of high-alert medications, intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and
other prescribed therapies within the Infusion Suite. Interpret
laboratory values relevant to oncology and infusion care and
integrate findings into patient care. Provide patient and family
education regarding treatment plans, medications, potential side
effects, symptom management, and follow-up care. Document all
assessments, interventions, treatments, and patient education in
the Veterans Affairs Computerized Patient Record System and
Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture.
Collaborate with oncologists, pharmacists, nurses, and
interdisciplinary team members to ensure safe, coordinated, and
effective patient care. Maintain compliance with Veterans Affairs
infection control standards, Occupational Safety and Health
Administration requirements, Health Insurance Portability and
Accountability Act privacy rules, and information security
policies. Participate in required Veterans Affairs orientation,
competency validation, ongoing training, and annual mandatory
education. Provide coverage for scheduled Chemotherapy and Infusion
Clinic shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and federal holidays
as required. Completes required organizational compliance
education, including assigned requirements that are
client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services
certification or other regulatory bodies. Qualifications Basic
Requirements/Certifications: Current, full, active, and
unrestricted Registered Nurse license in a United States state,
territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Successful
completion of the National Council Licensure Examination for
Registered Nurses. Basic Life Support certification issued by the
American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
certification, as required for emergency response. Completion of
the Oncology Nursing Society Fundamentals of Chemotherapy and
Immunotherapy Administration Course (minimum requirement). Oncology
Nursing Certification Corporation certification is preferred.
Minimum of two years of recent experience (within the last six
months) performing chemotherapy and/or immunotherapy administration
in an infusion clinic or infusion suite. Must possess at least two
years of direct patient care within the last three years as a Chemo
Registered Nurse. Demonstrated competency in oncology and infusion
nursing practice. Proficiency in chemotherapy and immunotherapy
administration and safe handling of hazardous drugs. Competency in
managing infusion reactions and medical emergencies. Education
Required: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing
approved by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing,
the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, or the American
Nurses Credentialing Center. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or
higher is preferred. Physical Requirements: Work is normally
performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work
involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time. May
require bending, stooping and lifting up to 15 lbs. Other Special
Qualifications: Must be able to read, write, and speak English to
effectively communicate. US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is
required. Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance. Additional
Information Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in
addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other
benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the
applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and
