Job Description:
Job Description Summary The Department of Clinical Pharmacy and
Outcome Sciences (CPOS) at the Medical University of South Carolina
(MUSC) College of Pharmacy in collaboration with MUSC Health
Department of Pharmacy Services is seeking an individual for
full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track (optional tenure track)
faculty position with a focus in clinical and translational
pharmacogenomics. Rank will be determined by commensurate
experience. The successful applicant will join a pharmacogenomics
team and lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive
pharmacogenomics program at the Medical University of South
Carolina. The faculty member will be instrumental in integrating
genomic logic into the electronic health record (EHR), establishing
system-wide governance structures, educating stakeholders,
launching a consultative service to support precision prescribing,
and evaluating effectiveness and outcomes. The faculty member will
be actively involved in didactic and experiential teaching in the
Doctor of Pharmacy program. The practice site will be the
Pharmacogenomics Service of MUSC Health. Faculty expectations
include providing didactic lectures, facilitation of laboratories
or small group discussions, course coordination, and providing
experiential rotations. Faculty members also serve on MUSC Health,
college, or university committees, as requested. Scholarship is
expected. Qualifications for the position include a Doctor of
Pharmacy degree from an ACPE-accredited College/School of Pharmacy
and an active South Carolina Pharmacist license. The successful
candidate will have excellent oral and written communication
skills, project management experience, and a strong interest in
teaching and advancing pharmacy practice. Completion of a PGY1
residency with a PGY2 residency or fellowship in pharmacogenomics
or related area or at least 5 years’ experience relevant to
pharmacogenomics is required. Board certification is preferred.
Experience with Epic EHR and CPIC guidelines is also preferred.

Pharmacogenomics Position Description The Clinical Pharmacy
Specialist, Pharmacogenomics, will be an instrumental member of a
team(s) integrating genomic logic into the electronic health record
(EHR), establishing governance structures, educating stakeholders,
and launching a consultative service to support precision medicine
prescribing, and evaluating effectiveness and outcomes. Key
Responsibilities EHR Integration: Collaborate with informatics,
information technology, and clinical teams to embed pharmacogenomic
decision support into provider workflows. Governance leadership:
Establish and lead a Pharmacogenomics Subcommittee of the Pharmacy
and Therapeutics Committee of MUSC Health to guide policy,
formulary decisions, and clinical standards. Education and
outreach: Develop and deliver educational materials and training
sessions for students, pharmacists, providers, and others to
support pharmacogenomic literacy and application. Program
development: Drive the strategic build of a pharmacogenomics
clinical program, including service design, operational workflows,
and outcome tracking. Consultative services: Design and implement a
pharmacogenomics service consult model to provide patient-specific
recommendations and support clinical decision-making. Collaboration
and advocacy: Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison across
departments to promote the responsible use of pharmacogenomic data.
Quality and research: Participate in quality improvement
initiatives and support research efforts related to
pharmacogenomics and precision medicine. Expected assignment of
