Job Description:

El Pollo Guapo is growing! We are interviewing for a full-time Sous Chef to join our team. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and engaged. Ultimate goal of our Sous Chef is to run the day to day operations in respective location. Management experience is a must!

*Responsibilities include but not limited to: *

- Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

- Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat, or preparing sauces)

- Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

- Answer, report and follow executive chef's guidelines

- Clean up station and take care of leftover food

- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion

- Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards

- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen area including walk-in, dishroom, floors, walls etc.

- Wash kitchen utensils, pans, dishes etc as necessary

- Create and monitor prep list

- Properly plan for all catering events

- Place all orders as necessary on a daily basis

- Complete weekly food inventory and submit to Executive Chef

- Clock in and out on a daily basis


- Proven cooking experience, including experience as a line chef, restaurant cook or prep cook

- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures

- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks

- Familiar with industry's best practices

- Strong Communication skills

*Physical Requirements*

- Work may be fast paced and a high degree of quality and accuracy are required. Must maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for an extended period of time

- Expected 45-50 hour weeks, rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.

- Will be exposed to possible food allergens including but not limited to; meats, fish, nuts, dairy, and oils.

- Will be exposed and expected to properly use cleaning chemicals

- Lift up to 40lbs constantly

- Lift from floor to shoulder constantly and overhead infrequently

- Twists, reaches, & bends frequently

- Listen to and comprehend instructions from staff and customers over background restaurant and equipment noise constantly

* Frequent hand washing required

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
