Virginia Job Description: - Essential Functions:--- Certifying
Scientist, I/II/III will report directly to;
--- Senior Staff Toxicologist
--- Clinical Laboratory Manager
--- Verifies analytical data using both LC/MS and EIA results to
correlate with LIMS system and ensure data accuracy prior to
releasing results.
--- Releases the final result product for reporting
--- Performs LC/MS/MS operations and duties
--- Ability to troubleshoot LC/MS/MS instrumentation as it relates
to observed results.
--- Investigates any analytical inconsistencies or questionable
results.
--- Evaluates correlation of EIA screen data and LIMS medications
listed to MS data, when applicable.
--- Participate and contribute quality assurance monitors. Collects
information as requested.
--- Compile and/or generate QC/QA reports for Toxicology Technical
Supervisor and Clinical Laboratory Manager
--- Participate, compile, and evaluate toxicology proficiency data
(CAP DMPM, ETB, UDC, UDS, and UT)
--- Coordinate laboratory functions and represent the toxicology
laboratory professionally.
--- Adhere to confidentiality (HIPAA) requirements.
--- Ability to work as a team member or as an individual.
--- Participate with training new employee's dependent upon current
position level
--- Adjusts work schedule to fit the needs of the organization.
--- Ability to work overtime when requested.
--- Maintain required CE credits
--- Will include training and remain current on laboratory
SOPs.Minimum Qualifications:--- Minimum education/training:
1. BS degree in in chemical science, physical science, biological
science, or related field from a four year college or university or
Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) with
minimum 2 years of Toxicology experience in clinical setting
required.
2. If an MT/MLT, must have passed the ASCP (or equivalent) registry
examination.
3. Master's degree in chemistry, toxicology, or pharmacology
preferred
--- Minimum of 2 years laboratory experience using LC/MS/MS
required.
--- Experience using SCIEX - instrumentation preferred
--- Knowledge/experience with CLIA, COLA, and CAP accreditation
requirements strongly preferred.
--- Ability to take direction, constructive criticism, and work as
a team towards a common goal.
--- Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
--- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain emotional
composure.
--- Excellent communication and interactive skills.
--- Ability to identify and appropriately resolve problems.
--- Must be dependable and conduct oneself in a mature, responsible
manner. Possess a strong work ethic.
--- Proficient use of a PC and Microsoft Office software (Word and
Excel).
--- Adequate typing speed - able to do basic typing without looking
at keyboard.
--- Must be able to sit or stand for up to one hour without a break
or change in position. Some walking or equivalent mobility
required.
