FLSA: SalariedJob Summary: Working closely with BMIC & IS senior
leadership, design and implement Microsoft Azure cloud-based
solutions for research data warehousing and pipelines/solutions for
data analysis. Working with the data analyst team, setup pipeline
for data replication to the Microsoft Azure cloud. Establish
database storage utilizing common data modeling (CDM) such as OMOP
and PCORnet. Build and establish a large scale (> 100,000)
genomics data store. Integrate core data feed and then augment data
feed with additional sources of data outside of the traditional
medical record. Integrate plain text notes, pass them through
natural language processing engines, and extract clinical data to
store as part of research record. Assist research faculty and staff
to setup and run analytics against dataset (ex: databricks, data
science workstations).Job Duties:
- 35% - Cloud Architect: Serve as primary research cloud
architect for BMIC and the University. Design solutions based on
requirements prepared by project management, principal
investigators, and senior information solutions leadership.
Coordinate and work closely with Microsoft partners to follow best
practice implementations. Estimate cost of solution provisioning. -
- 35% - Cloud Engineer: Deploy designed solutions to the
Microsoft Azure Cloud platform. Coordinate with the BMIC data
analyst team and IS engineers for ingestion of data to cloud
platform, both at inception and continuous improvement phases.
Monitor performance of solutions and ensure acceptable performance
has been provisioned. Adjust solutions as needed based on
operational demands. - (Essential)
- 25% - Cloud Consultant: Serve as a Cloud Consultant to faculty
and students performing research at MUSC. Determine the best
approach for their projects, whether it is on-premise, Cloud, or
compute resources through a partnership with Clemson University.
Charge-back for your time to recoup costs through grant funding or
other mechanisms. - (Essential)

Experience & Additional Skills: 5+ years' experience deploying
successful solutions in Azure. Extensive experience deploying
solutions in Microsoft Azure Cloud platformExtensive understanding
of SQL Server and Azure SQL Server best practices and
implementation, including elastic compute clusters for data
analysis. Extensive experience with data science in R and/or python
environments. Proficiency with cloud storage and
networkingUnderstanding of Azure pricing models and cost saving
operational tactics (auto-sleep, scripting to spin up and down
environments as needed). Determine when on-premise compute is
sufficient to serve research purposes. Minimum Experience and
Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in related information
technology or related field and four years experience in business
administration, computer science, mathematics, engineering,
management information science, networking-telecommunications
and/or data processing. Relevant experience may be substituted for
bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis. Physical Requirements:
