Job Summary/Purpose : - -The Epic Analyst for the department of Orthopaedics will help improve faculty utilization of the EMR through optimizing macros and smart phrases.

Required Minimum Training and Education: - - At least a bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a bachelor's degree in another allied health related field with 3 years of experience or an Associate's degree with a minimum 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree of 2 years' experience with strong health care related analytical and organizational related skills. Clinical chart review and abstraction experience preferred. Computer/internet skills and familiarity with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities: - -

  • Create and implement patient-reported outcome measures to track surgical patient outcomes for each orthopedic division (oncology, trauma, sports, etc.) build macros and order sets to streamline physician charting; retrieve data for various reports (academic, research and patient care purposes.
  • Participate in building and testing within the appropriate Epic modules, which may include Ambulatory, Epic Bones, E-Posting etc.; build and modify care pathways for common orthopaedic surgical procedures.
  • Work efficiently with physicians and assist with ongoing quality and compliance initiatives and tasks as requested; Act as a liaison between end-users, third parties, and Epic as needed.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality patient care, environment and professional development. Participate in activities involving workflow analysis (current and future) that support the design and build.
  • Assist with scorecard preparation.
  • Other Duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements: - Continuous requirements are to perform job functions while standing, walking and sitting. Ability to bend at the waist, kneel, climb stairs, reach in all directions, fully use both hands and legs, possess good finger dexterity, perform repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders, reach in all directions. Maintain 20/40 vision corrected, see and recognize objects close at hand and at a distance, work in a latex safe environment and work indoors. - Frequently lift, lower, push and pull and/or carry objects weighing 50 lbs (+/-) unassisted, exert up to 50 lbs of force, lift from 36" to overhead 20 lbs. - - Frequently work in dusty areas and confined/cramped spaces. - Infrequently work outside in temperature extremes.
