Job Description Job Description Description: Role Overview Youth Basketball Volunteers support the YMCA’s mission by helping provide a safe, fun, and inclusive basketball experience for youth participants. Volunteers assist with practices, games, and basic program operations while modeling positive sportsmanship and YMCA values. Key Responsibilities Assist with practice and game support, including drills, warm-ups, and basic skill development. Help supervise youth participants to ensure a safe and positive environment. Support coaches and staff with organization, transitions, and equipment setup/breakdown. Encourage teamwork, respect, and good sportsmanship among participants. Communicate concerns, injuries, or incidents promptly to YMCA staff. Follow all YMCA policies related to youth supervision, safety, and conduct. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Qualifications Interest in youth sports and working with children Ability to communicate clearly and positively with youth, families, and staff Ability to stand, walk, and engage in light physical activity Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented Basketball experience is helpful but not required. Youth Safety & Compliance Must complete all required YMCA volunteer onboarding steps, including background screening and youth safety training through Praesidium. Must follow all policies related to appropriate boundaries and mandated reporting. Volunteers may not work until all compliance requirements are completed. Schedule & Commitment Flexible scheduling based on program needs Shifts may include evenings and weekends during the basketball season Requirements:
