Scheduled Weekly Hours 40 Work Shift Job Description Plans,
supervises and assigns work to trades crews engaged in general
repair, maintenance or construction activities that involve one or
more trades, such as carpentry, masonry, electricity, welding,
heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC), automotive repairs,
plumbing and boiler operation. Screens, selects and provides
on-the-job training for trades personnel. Makes recommendations on
the repair, replacement and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
Plans, organizes, schedules, monitors and evaluates trades
activities. Assists in the compilation of data; prepares
correspondence, reports, summaries and budgets. Maintains, rebuilds
and tunes pianos. Performs high level trades skills in the
maintenance and repair of military equipment. Installs, repairs,
inspects HVAC equipment and systems. This includes work on
chillers, cooling towers, DX units, window units, ice machines,
hot/cold rooms, motors, controls, etc. All sizes and types of HVAC
systems. When working on equipment, ensures there is no
unauthorized gas releases into the atmosphere. Makes installations,
tests, and repairs in accordance with E.P.A. and other applicable
regulatory guidelines. (35%) Essential Recharges air conditioning
systems with refrigerants as necessary. Reset air conditioning and
refrigeration system and check for proper operation after power
failure. Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic and electronics controls.
(25%) Essential Overhauls compressors, condensers and other
equipment as needed. Diagnose and repair equipment problems
pertaining to air conditioning, heating and refrigeration. Uses
proper tools and electrical meter. (15%) Essential Coordinates
repairs and inspections with Energy Management Operator for proper
shutdown and startup of air conditioning systems throughout campus.
(10 %) Essential Supervises and instructs mechanics of lower grade.
Brief supervisor of any problems that may affect proper operation
of equipment (10%) Essential Maintain work area and job site in
clean and orderly manner and performs miscellaneous and related
duties as required. (5%) Additional Job Description Minimum
Requirements: A high school diploma and three years trade
experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Some
positions require a commercial driver's license. Some positions
require EPA-approved freon recovery certification. Physical

capabilities. (Continuous) Ability to maintain hearing acuity, with
correction. (Continuous) Ability to operate winches, come-alongs,
jacks, etc. (Continuous) Possess maintain dexterity in order to use
hand tools, both manual and powered. (Continuous) Ability to
qualify physically for respirator use. (Continuous) Additional New
Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers
license. Ability to obtain and maintain EPA Approved Freon recovery
