Job Description Summary 7A Family Medicine: Hospital Extension
U07A is a 18 Bed Medical Surgical Unit at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston South Carolina. Family Medicine is
similar to General Medicine and we see patients over their lifetime
past eighteen years of age often times with chronic illnesses. With
this we see more Medical patients, but we have surgical patients
placed on the floor in smaller numbers. Our nurses work
collaboratively with the Physician team, Respiratory Therapist,
Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologist,
Case Managers, and Social Workers to customize care for patients.
These patients tend to range from moderate to high acuity. 7A
offers opportunities for nurses to obtain Med-Surg certification.

Scheduled Weekly Hours 36 Work Shift Job Description Hours Per Week
: 36 Scheduled Work Hours/Shift: 3-12 hour shifts. Shifts vary
based on the needs of the department. Job Summary/Purpose : Under
general supervision, the Registered Nurse I (New Graduate) assists
at the advanced beginner level in providing individualized, goal
directed nursing care to patients and families utilizing principles
and practices of the nursing process; interacts with other members
of the health care team to achieve desired outcomes. Minimum
Training and Education : Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN
staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma
degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN
program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree
within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Required
Licensure, Certifications, and Registrations : Licensure as a
registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a
compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a
certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for
Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American
Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet. 25 lbs. of force is required
to push a stretcher with a patient with one hand. Ability to
maintain 20/40 vision, corrected, in one eye or with both eyes.
