Job Description Summary The research specialist I will work under general supervision by the PI and other senior lab staff, and will be part of a basic science research laboratory that focuses on the genetics, cell biology, and molecular pathways that are involved in heart pathology and regeneration. The selected individual will provide technical support for laboratory experiments and assays, and as desired and able, will be responsible for a supervised but independent research project. The position requires motivated, well-organized individuals with excellent communication and record-keeping skills. Preferred Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology or other life or health science is required. Basic competence with standard software (Excel, Word) is expected. Prior laboratory experiences in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, cell biology, tissue culture and/or related techniques is considered helpful. Job Duties: Perform a range of molecular biology laboratory techniques, under supervision by the PI and other lab staff, including DNA isolation, polymerase chain reaction, and agarose gel electrophoresis. Essential 20% Perform basic lab maintenance including making solutions and organizing laboratory supplies and equipment.
